Amelia Lily says scrapping debut album was a 'blessing in disguise'

Amelia Lily believes the scrapping of her first record was beneficial in hindsight.

The singer, who was a finalist on the 2011 X Factor, was expected to release her debut album following the success of 2012 single 'You Bring Me Joy'.

However, the Brit confirmed earlier this year that she had pulled the plug on the collection in order to work on new material.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Lily said that the move has helped her to create better music:

"To be honest after my third single got cut, the album got taken down from iTunes and I didn't know anything about it until I spoke to my label.

"It was really frustrating at the time but now I look at it and it was a blessing in disguise because I was never 100 per cent happy with the album. I don't think you should put something out there that you're not happy with yourself."

Lily meanwhile is due to release new single 'California' on August 24.
