Elton John says Kate Bush song 'saved his life'

Sir Elton John has revealed that a Kate Bush track was one of the reasons why he became sober.

The reclusive singer teamed up with Peter Gabriel for the 1986 tune 'Don't Give Up' and it seems it had a profound effect on John.

He told the upcoming BBC documentary The Kate Bush Story: Running Up That Hill that the song helped him to battle his demons and be "reborn".

The musician said: "This was one record that saved my life.

"That record helped me get sober...So she played a big part in my rebirth. That record helped me so much. I never told her that but it did."

Bush meanwhile is due to perform live for the first time since 1979 in September and October.

She will play a number of shows as part of the sold-out Before The Dawn residency at the London Apollo.
