Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt thinks new Taylor Swift video 'perpetuates black stereotypes'

Odd Future star Earl Sweatshirt has criticised Taylor Swift's new video for allegedly "perpetuating black stereotypes".

The US star treated fans to her new single 'Shake It Off' on Monday night (August 18) alongside its video.

At one point in the clip Swift appears to refer to rap fashion and culture, with a number of women seen twerking.

Whilst he has not seen the video, Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt took to Twitter to lambast the clip for its apparent stereotyping.

He said: "Haven't watched the Taylor Swift video and I don't need to watch it to tell you that it's inherently offensive and ultimately harmful. Perpetuating black stereotypes to the same demographic of white girls who hide their prejudice by proclaiming their love of the culture.

"For instance, those of you who are afraid of black people but love that in 2014 it's ok for you to be trill or twerk or say n***a."

The single meanwhile is the first track to come from Swift's upcoming album '1989', which will be released on October 27.
