Taylor Swift: 'I realised that I’ve been taking a feminist stance without actually saying so'

'Shake It Off' superstar Taylor Swift has praised her close friend Lena Dunham for teaching her what feminism truly is and showing her that she already has that kind of view on life without consciously realising it.

During a recent interview with The Guardian newspaper, the beauty confessed that during her teen years she wasn't entirely sure what it meant to be a feminist, but has learned that she is one thanks to 'Girls' actress and writer, Dunham:

"Becoming friends with Lena -- without her preaching to me, but just seeing why she believes what she believes, why she says what she says, why she stands for what she stands for -- has made me realize that I’ve been taking a feminist stance without actually saying so."

She also recently admitted that her female friendships are more valuable to her than romantic relationships, adding: "It just doesn’t seem like a possibility in the near future. It doesn’t ever work. What works is having incredible girlfriends who I can trust and tell anything.”
