Charli XCX says Britney Spears encouraged her to pursue a career in music.

The rising Brit, who is releasing her second album 'Sucker' on October 20, told the Mirror that Spears' breakthrough hit 'Baby One More Time' "blew her mind".

The song was released in 1999 and Charli XCX said that it was the one song that made her dream of making music.

She said: "My inspiration was Britney. I remember hearing 'Baby One More Time' and it blew my mind."

Speaking meanwhile about pop music, Charli XCX said:

"I think all guilty pleasures are cool and I love dancing around. I love the Spice Girls too."

The singer is due to precede her album 'Sucker' with the track 'Break The Rules' on October 5.
