GRL's Simone Battle's death ruled as suicide

The death of GRL singer Simone Battle has been ruled as suicide by hanging.

As previously reported, the pop world fell into shock on over the weekend when it was revealed on Saturday (September 6) that the 25-year-old had died in her Los Angeles home.

Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Fred Corra has now confirmed that former X Factor USA contestant Battle hung herself.

Speaking after her death, Battle's label RCA said: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of GRL Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."

The band itself added: "Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart. We will carry her memory with us in everything we do."

GRL's latest single 'Ugly Heart' meanwhile reached No.11 on the UK chart on Sunday (September 7).
