Usher: 'I want people to see a different side of me'

R&B sensation Usher has opened up about why he chose to be a coach on America's 'The Voice' and confessed that it's important to him to show his versatility where the entertainment industry is concerned.

During a new interview with Fault magazine, the heartthrob explained that he wanted people to see another side to him and to see that he could fit a different role to the one they're used to him being in:

"Part of the reason why I did The Voice was so people would get a chance to see a different perception of me... The more I know about life, the more I know about people, the greater the person I am, the more understanding I have about how to make music and how to do things that will grow us as people."

Earlier this month, meanwhile, Usher spoke about his forthcoming new tour and teased that it'll be unlike anything he has ever done before:

"The UR Experience is not typical and unexpected. I will tell you, by the end of the night, you will have an experience that only you will remember. You know you've had those one concerts you went to in your childhood, there's this moment in your life that you're like, 'Man, that concert - I just wish I could relive in that moment?' That's what I'm trying to create - that's what I'm creating every single night."

The UR Tour is due to kick off on November 1 in Montreal, QC at the Bell Centre and will finish just over a month later on December 14 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Florida.
