Mariah Carey's vocals criticised after live videos emerge online

Mariah Carey has come under fire for her live vocal ability.

The singer is known to have one of the strongest voices in pop, but it seems that she was a little out of sorts whilst performing in Japan on Saturday (October 4).

The US star opened her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour in Tokyo and she has been criticised for her vocal performance.

Videos uploaded to YouTube from the gig apparently show Carey struggling with high notes and singing off-key.

One YouTube user commented: "Wow, she is singing almost everything live. That's gonna do NOTHING but destroy her voice even more.

"This is sad to watch. Imma stop watching. Its only gonna get worse. I really don't think she needs to do those other shows in Singapore & Australia. They just gonna beat her down & make fun of her like they did Whitney Houston."
