One Direction battling Meghan Trainor on UK singles chart

One Direction are putting up a fight on this week's UK singles chart.

The boyband released their new track 'Steal My Girl' on Sunday (October 12) as the first single from upcoming album 'FOUR'.

The Official Charts Company revealed today (October 15) that the tune is currently No.2 on their midweek update.

This means that US star Meghan Trainor looks set to retain her place at No.1 on the chart with 'All About That Bass'.

At No.3 on the update meanwhile is Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off', with Jessie J's 'Bang Bang' at No.4.

The top five is rounded off by The Vamps' newly released 'Oh Cecilia'.

Eminem's new entry 'Guts Over Fear' meanwhile is No.6, with Watermat at No.9 with 'Bullit'.
