Robbie Williams joins Unicef child welfare charity campaign

Robbie Williams has lent his support to a new Unicef campaign.

The singer has teamed up with the charity body to help promote their Children in Danger: to End Violence against Children project.

Speaking in a statement, Williams said that becoming a father for the first time in 2012 has given him a new focus in life.

He said: "In the last couple of years I’ve become a dad and very soon, Ayda and I will become parents for the second time – Teddy can’t wait to meet her new brother or sister. Things change when you’re a dad – suddenly there are people who need you to protect them, people more important than yourself.

"I would go to the ends of the earth for my kids, and there are millions of children around the world who urgently need us all to help protect them."

The Brit added that previous charity visits to the likes of Haiti and Mexico City have "opened his eyes" to the global problem of children living in danger.

Williams, who is joined by David Beckham in supporting the campaign, concluded:

"The experiences I’ve had with Unicef have been incredible and above all have made me realise how lucky I am and how lucky my own children are to be safe and protected."
