Phil Collins on writing for Adele: 'I thought I'd failed the audition because she didn't get back to me'

Iconic musician Phil Collins revealed that he was called to write music with vocal powerhouse Adele and jumped at the chance, but it didn't go quite as well as he initially hoped.

During a new interview with Q magazine, Collins confessed that when he was asked to write with Adele he thought his material had been rejected because his submission was met with radio silence from the 'Someone Like You' superstar:

"She's a slippery little fish is Adele. She got hold of me and asked if I would write with her. She gave me a piece of music to finish and at first I didn't know if I'd failed the audition as I didn't hear back from her. Then she said, 'No, no, I'm moving house and the baby's taking up a lot of my time, I'm not actually doing anything at the moment.'"

The In 'The Air Tonight' hitmaker went onto add that he has heard Adele is bringing out a new record and confirmed that he doesn't feature on it: "And now I've heard there's a 29 coming out. I'm not on it, I know that."

Collins, meanwhile, is due to perform at a charity concert in Miami on December 6 and the announcement of this concert has sparked rumours that suggest he might be reuniting with Genesis in the near future
