A new song written by Ed Sheeran for One Direction is set to be debuted today (November 11).

The singer-songwriter wrote the tune '18' for the group's new album 'FOUR'.

He confirmed on Twitter that the song will see the light of day this afternoon:

"I wrote a song called '18' on the new one direction album, the song is released today at 4pm uk time x."

Sheeran has previously written the likes of the No.1 track 'Little Things' for the boyband.

'FOUR' meanwhile will be released on November 17.

It will also include the lead single 'Steal My Girl', as well as the previous free download 'Fireproof' and upcoming single 'Night Changes'.
