One Direction and Meghan Trainor have been confirmed to appear at this year's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.

The shindig is taking place again this year on December 31 and a number of acts have been announced for its Hollywood segment.

One Direction, Trainor and Charli XCX will perform during the show's Billboard Hollywood Party section, with Fergie on hand to host.

The British-Irish boyband will headline the party and will perform four times throughout the night.

The main section of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve meanwhile will take place at New York's Times Square, with Taylor Swift scheduled to perform.
