Slipknot have been confirmed as one of this year's Download Festival headliners.

The masked US metallers will top the bill at the Donington festival on its Friday night (June 12).

Singer Corey Taylor commented: "Being invited back to Download always feels like coming home. Headlining Download, for the 3rd time, feels like the culmination of a life's dream.

"It's an honour, a privilege and we're all looking forward to it."

Also announced for the Friday are Judas Priest, Black Stone Cherry and Five Finger Death Punch.

The festival's next announcement will come at 8am UK time tomorrow (November 18).

Slipknot meanwhile released their new album '.5: The Gray Chapter' recently.

It topped the Billboard albums chart in the US, giving the ensemble their second No.1 in the country to date.
