Annie Lennox on Madonna's topless shoot: 'What is she trying to tell us?'

Eurythmics star Annie Lennox has questioned Madonna's motives for posing topless recently for an issue of Interview magazine.

The songstress made an appearance on 'Loose Women' earlier today and explained that while she doesn't want to judge the Queen of Pop for making such a bold decision, she does have to wonder why she agreed to the raunchy photoshoot (shown below) at the age of 56:

"I did get things off occasionally but not to that extent. I don't think it's down to me (to judge Madonna) ... I think already the verdict is probably out, would you not agree on that one? I think the question is, 'What is Madonna telling us?' Anybody know?'"

In response to the question posed by Lennox, 'Loose Women' panelist Janet Street Porter chimed in and suggested: "I think it's attention seeking."

In Madonna's accompanying chat with Interview magazine, she opens up about her song 'Devil Prays', which will feature on her next album, and explains the concept behind it: "It's about how people take drugs to connect to God or to a higher level of consciousness. I keep saying, 'Plugging into the matrix'. If you get high, you can do that, which is why a lot of people drop acid or do drugs, because they want to get closer to God."
