Sir Paul McCartney reflects on John Lennon's death 34 years on

Today (December 8) marks the 34th anniversary of John Lennon's death and his Beatles bandmate Sir Paul McCartney has opened up about the tragic event that saw the 'Imagine' legend shot dead at the hands of Mark David Chapman in 1980.

During a new interview with Jonathan Ross, the music icon explained that Lennon's death was nothing short of shocking and 'horrific', and it took him a long time to process what had happened:

"It was so horrific and I couldn't take it in. For days, you just couldn't think he was gone."

Referring to murderer Mark Chapman, McCartney confessed that the killing was a "total random thing" from "the jerk of all jerks": "It was just like 'this is just a jerk, this is not even a guy politically motivated, it's just some total random thing."
