Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars land midweek No.1 single with 'Uptown Funk'

This week's midweek update on the Official UK Top 40 singles chart sees Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson take the No.1 position with their new collaborative offering, 'Uptown Funk'.

The pair released the track earlier than planned after it was performed last weekend by an 'X Factor' finalist and it shot into the top spot this afternoon (December 10).

Band Aid 30's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' has jumped from 12 to No.2 following its physical release and Dutch house producer Oliver Heldens enters at 3 with 'Last All Night (Koala)'. Former chart-topper 'Thinking Out Loud' by Ed Sheeran has slipped to No.4, and Take That’s 'These Days' completes the Top 5.

Elsewhere on the UK Top 40, British metal band Bring Me The Horizon are set for their first ever Top 40 entry this week with 'Drown', which has made an impressive appearance at No.6 and One Direction's 'Night Changes' has rocketed to No.8.

The Pogues' Christmas classic 'Fairytale Of New York' has climbed to No.9 this afternoon, U.S. girl group Fifth Harmony have entered at No.10 with their single 'Bo$$' after performing it on 'The X Factor' over the weekend, and Wizzard’s 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' re-enters the Top 40 at 34.
