'The X Factor' impacting sales of karaoke machines

The end of the current season of 'The X Factor' is fast approaching and online marketplace eBay has reported that sales of karaoke machines have skyrocketed over the past few weeks because people want to bring the singing competition into their own homes.

Sales of karaoke machines increased by 229% between August and November, and more than 100 karaoke machines are selling every day in the run up to the 'X Factor' live finals this coming weekend.

Steve Heywood of eBay.co.uk issued a statement on the impressive figures and said: "They say everyone has one novel in them – but these figures suggest that everyone has got a song or two in them as well. It could be that we see some of the singers who get voted in each week and think ‘I can do better than that’ – and buy the karaoke machine to prove it."

“It also seems we have to be in the party mood before taking the microphone ourselves however, as more karaoke sales complete on eBay between 1 and 2am than any other time of day.”

One Direction, meanwhile, are due to perform at the live final and Simon Cowell teased that they're going to pull out all the stops: "I was talking to the One Direction guys and they've planned something special...but I don't want to give anything away."
