Iggy Azalea has been named the most searched for musician on Google in the US in 2014.

The rapper topped the search engine's annual rundown of music's most popular subject.

She beat Lorde, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor to the title.

The Australian was also the fourth most searched for person in general in the US this year.

Her hit song 'Fancy' helped to propel Azalea to the high level of searches.

Coachella meanwhile was the most searched for festival of 2014.
