Mark Ronson pleased 'Uptown Funk' became New Year anthem

Mark Ronson has spoken of his delight at seeing 'Uptown Funk' become one of the songs of this year's New Year's celebrations.

The tune - which features Bruno Mars - was originally meant for a January release, but an X Factor performance of the song by Fleur East saw it brought out early.

It hit No.1 in the UK and it was no doubt a popular choice for New Year's Eve parties.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Ronson said that he is happy that the single was in demand during the celebrations.

He said: "I couldn't be disappointed [at 'Uptown Funk' not getting the Christmas No.1]. I love that people get so excited about music here and you can bet on No1s over the festive period. They treat it like an election and just to be part of that is exciting.

"But the fact that people were jamming and listening to the song at their New Year's Eve parties was awesome, it's everything you want."
