Marilyn Manson clarifies 'working with Lana Del Rey was a problem' comment

'Beautiful People' sensation Marilyn Manson raised eyebrows last year after a short video clip made its way online that showed Lana Del Rey being sexually assaulted, but he has now confirmed that his remarks about her being 'a problem' at the time were taken out of context.

Speaking to the NME last December about the risqué clip, Manson originally said:

"Eli and I wanted to do a music video with (Lana) but she was being such a problem. Although I still respect her, I'm friends with her. I just left, I was tired, I was not willing to make that part of the video."

The shock-rocker has now clarified his comments on Del Rey and explained to Billboard that he was misquoted:

"I was misquoted in the press about saying that working with Lana was a problem. What was a problem was trying to get into a situation where she and I could work together, because we didn't have a story yet. Eli and I are friends, and I wanted to work with Lana, but this was not a Marilyn Manson video, although it came across that way when it was released."
