A host of big names have been added to the line-up for this year's inaugural Rock in Rio USA.

Sam Smith, Jessie J and Charli XCX lead the new additions for the event, which is is taking place over two weekends in May in Las Vegas.

They are joined by fellow newbies Bleachers, Tove Lo, Empire of the Sun and Echosmith.

The event is taking place on May 8, 19, 15 and 16, with Metallica, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars and No Doubt headlining.

Tickets for the festival, which is taking place at the Las Vegas strip open-air City of Rock venue, will go on sale from January 20.
