Charli XCX: 'Rita Ora originally wanted 'Doing It' for herself'

Hitmaker Charli XCX has opened up about her song 'Doing It', which features Rita Ora, and confessed that Ora 'hassled' her for a long time about taking the cut off her hands

Speaking to On Air With Ryan earlier today (January 15), the star explained that Ora initially wanted the track all for herself, so it took some convincing for her to repackage it as a collaboration with Charli:

"I played Rita ‘Doing It’ actually quite a long time ago and she hassled me for ages about giving her that song and I kept saying no. Then I just kind of realised maybe we could do it together and maybe that would make it cooler, and when I let her know she was very excited about that."

She went onto reveal how she wrote the song and what inspired its lyrics: "It’s another girl power song about being with your friends at a party — very innocent, which is kind of funny coming from me and her. It’s a song that I wrote when I was really hung over after having a party at [producer] Trevor Horn’s house (which he didn’t know about and we got in a lot of trouble for).”
