Fall Out Boy on course for first UK No.1 album

Fall Out Boy have topped the midweek UK albums chart.

The US group unleashed their new effort 'American Beauty/American Psycho' on Monday (January 19) and it is currently No.1.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (January 21) that the record is 1,500 copies ahead of nearest rival Mark Ronson, whose fellow new entry 'Uptown Special' is No.2.

If Fall Out Boy stay put come Sunday (January 25), they will have bagged their first UK No.1 album.

Their highest entry on the chart so far was with 2013's 'Save Rock And Roll', which reached No.2.

At No.3 on the midweek update is Enter Shikari's new effort 'The Mindsweep', with Ed Sheeran's 'x' at No.4 and Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour' completing the top five.

Among the other new entries this week are Belle & Sebastian's 'Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance' (No.8), The Decemberists' 'What A Terrible World (No.10) and Marilyn Manson's 'The Pale Emperor' (No.11).
