Canadian rising star Shawn Mendes has revealed that British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran flew him out to LA and spent time talking with him about the music industry and how to stay on track with his dreams. 

During a new interview with Hollywire, the heartthrob admitted that he can't remember how the meeting came about, but he was very excited to have such an amazing opportunity:

"I was in contact with my manager's friend... I worked with Ed and the next thing I know I'm in Los Angeles meeting Ed Sheeran. I didn't get starstruck - I would only get starstruck with someone who acts like a star and with Ed, that doesn't happen. He acts like a normal person."

When asked if the 'Lego House' sensation gave him any advice on how to navigate the pressures of fame, Mendes admitted they did have a chat about keeping focused and grounded: "He just told me to keep my end goal in mind and to make sure I stay in this for music because it's what I love, and to keep remembering that."
