Joni Mitchell on Taylor Swift biopic block: 'I said no because I've never heard her music'

'Both Sides Now' sensation Joni Mitchell has revealed why she rejected Taylor Swift from the lead role in a proposed biopic about her life and career.

Speaking to NYmag.com about the biopic plans, Mitchell confessed the reason she rejected Swift from the role was because she wasn't at all familiar with her music and could only see the similarities between them from a physical perspective:

"I've never heard Taylor's music. I've seen her. Physically, she looks similarly small-hipped and high cheekbones. I can see why they cast her. I don't know what her music sounds like, but I do know this - that if she's going to sing and play me, good luck."

Last year, Mitchell told the Sunday Times that the thought of having the 'Out Of The Woods' superstar play her made her recoil: "I squelched that! I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones'. It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes. There's a lot of nonsense about me in books - assumptions, assumptions, assumptions."
