'Uptown Funk' reportedly earning $100,000 per week on Spotify

Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's chart-topping single 'Uptown Funk' has been incredibly popular since its release and Music Business Weekly (via Forbes magazine) has now revealed that it's possible the track is earning them a cool $100,000 (£64.9k) per week through plays on music streaming service, Spotify.

Forbes explains how the estimate was projected and reports that the "figure comes from a rough calculation of the total number of plays—now over 125 million and growing—multiplied by the rough estimate that Spotify has given for how much they pay out per stream—$0.007—divided by the eight weeks the song has been charting so impressively".

'Uptown Funk' dropped to No.3 on the midweek singles chart update this week (February 11) although the final positions will be confirmed this coming Sunday, February 15. Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' is currently in the lead, but Ella Eyre and DJ Fresh's 'Gravity' is close behind at No.2.
