Paloma Faith says Taylor Swift phrase trademarking is 'pathetic'

Paloma Faith has criticised Taylor Swift's recent decision to copyright phrases and lyrics.

As previously reported, the US star applied to secure the rights to terms like 'this sick beat', which features in her 2014 single 'Shake It Off'.

Speaking to The Sun, Faith said that she believes the move shows a "distinct lack of self-confidence".

She said: "F*** that! 'This sick beat' is probably something she's stolen from someone else.

"It's kind of pathetic, if you want my honest opinion. Is she that desperate to stand out from the crowd? With her exclusive phrases? I think it shows a distinct lack of self-confidence."
