Mumford & Sons announce new album and Scottish mini-festival

Mumford & Sons have confirmed details of their next album.

The English folk outfit will release 'Wilder Mind' on May 4.

The record will act as the follow-up to 2012's 'Babel'.

Singer Marcus Mumford commented: "Towards the end of the Babel tour, we’d always play new songs during soundchecks, and none of them featured the banjo, or a kick-drum.

"And demoing with Aaron [Dessner, the National] meant that, when we took a break, we knew it wasn’t going to involve acoustic instruments. We didn’t say: ‘No acoustic instruments.’ But I think all of us had this desire to shake it up. The songwriting hasn’t changed drastically; it was led more by a desire to not do the same thing again. Plus, we fell back in love with drums! It’s as simple as that."

Mumford & Sons have also announced plans to bring their Gentlemen of the Road Stopover event to Aviemore in Scotland on July 31 and August 1.

The band will perform at the Dell of Rothiemurchus alongside the likes of Primal Scream, Ben Howard and Lianne La Havas.

Tickets for the Highland mini-festival will go on sale from 10am UK time on March 6.
