Madonna leads midweek UK albums chart

Madonna is in pole position to land this week's UK No.1 album.

The singer released 'Rebel Heart' in the country on Monday (March 9).

The Official Charts Company have confirmed today (March 11) that the record is sitting pretty at No.1 on the midweek albums chart.

It is a total of 12,700 copies ahead of its nearest rival - Sam Smith's 'In The Lonely Hour'.

If Madonna stays put come Sunday (March 15), she will have bagged her twelfth UK No.1 album.

Previous chart-topper meanwhile Noel Gallagher slips to third place with his latest effort 'Chasing Yesterday'.

Ed Sheeran's 'x' rests at No.4 whilst George Ezra's 'Wanted On Voyage' rounds off the top five.

Rebecca Ferguson's 'Lady Sings The Blues' is this week's second highest new entry at No.6.

Blue's new record 'Colours' meanwhile is straight in at No.10.
