Robin Thicke and Pharrell to appeal 'Blurred Lines' ruling

A lawyer for Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams has confirmed that they will appeal the plagiarism ruling against their song 'Blurred Lines'.

As previously reported, a jury this week ruled that Thicke's 2013 song - one of the best-selling singles of all time - copied Gaye's 1977 track 'Got To Give It All'.

$7.3m (£4.8m) in damages is due to be given to Gaye's family.

Attorney Howard King has now told Fox that they plan to appeal the ruling, saying:

"We owe it to song writers around the world to make sure this verdict doesn't stand.

"My clients know that they wrote the song 'Blurred Lines' from their hearts and souls and no other source...We are going to exercise every post trial remedy we have to make sure this verdict does not stand. We look at it as being in the seventh inning of a game that could go into extra innings."

'Blurred Lines' was written by Thicke, Pharrell Williams and TI.
