Azealia Banks: 'I felt like a caged animal'

Rapper Azealia Banks has revealed that she "felt like a caged animal" while she was signed to major label Universal/Interscope Records because her creativity was stifled.

Speaking to Billboard about the difficult period in her career, the '212' star explained that she was initially excited to be signed by such an iconic company but soon realised that it didn't make her as happy as she expected it would have:

"I felt like a caged animal. I'm this twenty-something who just became a millionaire, and I'm just like, 'F**K-, where's my album?' Things started to blend together, and I was driving myself past certain points of insanity."

Banks also opened up about her use of social media, on which she voices her true and unedited opinions, and added that she doesn't ask permission or advice from anyone: "I often go on there as a way to distract myself from being a person. [But] I don't turn to anyone for advice. I do what I want."
