Ed Sheeran recently paid a visit to a fan who was too ill to attend one of his concerts.

Sheeran fan Jess Wright purchased tickets to see the acoustic musician play in Auckland but was later diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and was unable to make it to the show. 

Jess’ friends set up an "Ed Visit Jess" social media campaign to try and help make her dream of meeting the British pop star come true.

Over the weekend Ed Sheeran arrived at Auckland Hospital as a surprise for Ms Wright on her 20th birthday.

Following her half an hour meeting with Ed, Jess said: “He was just a genuinely nice guy. Just real chilled and down to earth.”
