Yoko Ono: 'Ringo Starr was the most influential Beatle'

Yoko Ono believes Ringo Starr was more "influential" in the Beatles than her late husband John Lennon.

The 82-year-old told Rolling Stone about the drummer's "gentle" persona whilst backstage at the weekend's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Ohio.

Starr was inducted into the Hall of Fame by bandmate Sir Paul McCartney.

Ono said: "No-one is probably going to believe it but he was the most influential Beatle.

"John would go up and down and all that, but Ringo was always just very gentle. And he really believed in peace and love."

Starr was the final member of the Beatles to be inducted as a solo member.
