Adam Lambert: 'I was asked to record an album of 80s cover songs'

Superstar Adam Lambert recently stopped by Billboard's Pop Shop Podcast and revealed that he split from former record label RCA because of creative differences and because they wanted him to do a covers album.

When asked to expand on the 'creative differences' reason, he explained that bosses at RCA asked him to record an album of 80s cover songs and he just wasn't into it:

"Yeah, creatively that didn't do it for me so I was out of there. There are no hard feelings - there are a lot of great people over there and they worked very hard for me, and gave it their all [...] I thought about it (the cover album) and was trying to listen to music... There are a handful of songs from the 80s I love, but I was never an 80s music lover."

Referring to his forthcoming new studio album, entitled 'The Original High', the sensation added that he has been trying to hard to keep details under wraps as it has been finished for a long time now:

"I've been working on this album for over a year and most of the music has been done since late fall. I'm not the most patient person! I've had to learn the hard way that mystery is our friend... it's part of show-business."
