Shawn Mendes on Vine success: 'You only have 6 seconds to impress somebody'

Canadian sensation Shawn Mendes has revealed that launching his career from 6-second video posting app Vine was a lot tougher than people would assume.

Speaking about getting noticed from the incredibly short video clips he would upload, the 'Stitches' heartthrob admitted that it's hard to impress someone in such a short amount of time:

"People could say, ‘Well, it doesn’t take much talent to put a six-second video up'. I would argue that it does, because you only have six seconds to impress somebody. And if you can do that in six seconds, then you’ve done a good job.”

He went onto add that he never actively sought fame and would just use the Vine platform to share his talents with the world: When I put that first Vine out, I was just doing it for fun; there was no wanting to become an artist. But then when I realized the potential it had, I thought Vine was the perfect platform because no one else was doing it. I would have been one of the only ones, or one of the first."
