Charli XCX expected instant success: 'I didn't know I'd have to fight for it'

Songstress Charli XCX has revealed that when she first started making her way in the music industry, she had no idea that she would have to fight so hard to defend her artistic vision.

Speaking to ASOS magazine recently, the beauty explained that she initially expected to get signed by a major label and to enjoy instant success as she grew up looking at Britney Spears' incredible career for inspiration:

"With everything I do, it has to be 100 per cent me. I think that's part of the reason it's taken me so long to get where I am. It's a constant fight to get people to understand my vision and do things my way. I thought I'd sign a record deal and be like Britney Spears."

"I didn't know how much I'd have to fight and defend my ideas. A lot of people think that because I'm a girl and I'm young that I'll be like, 'Yeah, that's cool,' and stand on the stage and look pretty."
