'Stitches' sensation Shawn Mendes has opened up about his devoted fan base and confessed that a girl once leapt onto the stage to hug him while he was performing one of his tracks. 

During an interview with VH1, the rising star explained that while his fans have generally been fairly chilled out to date, there was one encounter in particular that he remembers well:

"I haven't really had many insane fan experiences, but I was once doing a show in Toronto and a fan jumped on stage past all security and gave me a big hug in the middle of my song, which was quite crazy. I was super impressed because she jumped a metre high, which was ridiculous, but it was crazy."

Mendes was then asked how he would spend an ideal day off and added: "If I had one day to do whatever I want... I'd probably just... if I could teleport to the beaches of Jamaica and just lay there for the entire day... I'd do that."
