Little Mix open up about the album they scrapped

Girl group Little Mix recently admitted that they scrapped an entire album before coming up with the record they're finishing off now and they have opened up about that offering and why they chose to bin it.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the record, the girls explained that there simply weren't enough strong stand-alone songs on it:

"There just weren't enough hits on it. Like, you know a hit when you hear one, but when we listened back we just feel like the songs weren't strong enough. We tested some of them and we worked on them again to make them better, but we didn't feel like it was wow enough. It didn't show the potential that we have."

When asked if the sound changed drastically on the third album they're gearing up to release now, Jade Thirlwall added: "Yeah I think it did. Once we heard 'Black Magic' and a couple of other songs on the album, everything just took off and before we knew it we had an album ready, and it was so much more fun than what we had before."

"I think a lot of artists do this; when they're writing they think too much about what other people are doing and we got too wrapped up in trying to make sure things were cool and R&B, and we just thought, 'Y'know what? Pop's great and it's happening at the minute, so this sounds better than anything else we've done.'"
