Taylor Swift's 1989 tour earns $17m from five shows

Taylor Swift's 1989 tour has bagged around $17m (£10.9m) from just five shows.

The singer embarked on the North America leg of the tour on May 20 in Bossier City.

Billboard report that the jaunt, which includes stadiums and arenas, has grossed $16,890,135 (£10.89m) from five gigs.

Their calculations come from her dates from May 20 to June 6.

Data from her sixth show from that period - a show in Baton Rouge on May 22 - has not yet come through.

The run is taking place in promotion of Swift's 2014 album '1989'.

The tour is due to visit the UK in June.
