Apple Music have changed their policy on royalties after an open letter from Taylor Swift.

The singer took to Tumblr recently to open up on the reasons why her latest album '1989' wouldn't feature on the upcoming Apple Music streaming service.

She cited the fact that the platform would not pay royalties to artists and songwriters during Apple Music's three-month free trial for users.

Apple, however, have now responded by confirming that they will change their policy on royalty pay-outs during the trial period.

Swift responded on Twitter: "I am elated and relieved. Thank you for your words of support today. They listened to us."

Apple Music boss Eddie Cue told the AP: "When I woke up this morning and I saw Taylor's note that she had written, it really solidified that we needed to make a change."

The service is due to launch on June 30, but Cue added that he still doesn't know if '1989' would feature.
