New Kids on the Block have given One Direction some sagely words of advice.

The US group are veterans of the boyband scene having released their first album in 1986.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, singer Donnie Wahlberg said that the British-Irish upstarts should take advantage of their lifestyle whilst they can.

He said: "I mean its one of those things where they are getting advice from all over the place.

“The best advice I would say is to have as much fun as you can!”

Jonathan Knight added: "You know they are doing their thing. They are doing their thing!"

One Direction are currently down to a four-piece after Zayn Malik left the group in March.
