Joni Mitchell left unable to speak after suffering brain aneurysm

New details of Joni Mitchell’s medical condition have emerged via friend and musician David Crosby.

Speaking to the Huffington Post about his knowledge of Mitchell’s current state, Crosby explained:

“She took a terrible hit. She had an aneurysm, and nobody found her for a while. And she's going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.”

He went on: “She is home, she is in care, she is recovering. "How much she's going to come back, and when, I don't know… To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet.”

71-year-old Joni Mitchell was taken into hospital on March 31 after being found unconscious at her LA home.

There has been no official confirmation regarding Mitchell’s medical condition but her representatives have previously denied that the ‘Big Yellow Taxi’ songstress was in a coma.

David Crosby – a former boyfriend and longtime friend – went on to reveal his thoughts about Joni’s situation:

“She's a tough girl and very smart. I love her. She's probably the best of us — probably the greatest living singer-songwriter… [But] I think we're all holding our breath and thinking of goodbye, you know? And hoping it's gonna turn out ok.”
