Jedward give inspiring anti-bullying speech: 'Things do get better'

Hitmakers Jedward recently gave an inspiring speech at the Facebook Headquarters, Dublin for an anti-bullying symposium (Diana Award Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme) and opened up about their own experiences of bullying.

John Grimes said to the crowd that he was picked on at school and had to just keep pushing forward and fighting to not let it affect or wear him down:

"What people don't realise is that when we were in school, we were really, really bullied. I'd have people call me names and I'd have guys come along and box me in the face... it was really physical and intense." He added: "I went through all these things and I was like, 'you know what, I'm not going to stop doing what I'm doing, I'm not going to stop running."

"I used to have these guys just attacking me because I was running and doing my own thing, and I said, 'I'm just going to keep on doing my own thing...' because things do get better."

Edward Grimes then continued: "The thing is that we're talking about bullying in school, but it happens in the media and all over the world... Australia, Canada... we've been to them all and you see the same things. The same letters from girls crying, saying 'I was never wanted'... [...] There's so much criticism, no matter where you go [...] you've got to find yourself as a person in life and not let others... it's all about just keeping going."
