Stereo Kicks announce split after only ten months together

Former X Factor act Stereo Kicks have decided to call it a day.

The eight-piece boy band, who were formed on the X Factor 10 months ago, have announced their decision to go their separate ways.

Stereo Kicks made the announcement via Facebook and explained the reasons for their split after releasing just one single.

The band wrote: “We all feel the time has come for us to now continue our journeys individually. We have learnt first-hand just how tough the industry is as an unsigned act. Unfortunately, due to these circumstances, we are no longer able to carry on as a band. Please understand that there is nothing more that you could have done and that this is a situation completely beyond both your control and ours.”

Stereo Kicks came together after all eight boys - Tom, James, Barclay, Jake, Chris, Reece, Casey, and Charlie – auditioned for the X Factor as solo artists but were formed into a group and mentored by Louis Walsh. The band left the competition in the eighth week of the live shows and failed to secure a recording contract afterwards.

In their statement, the band highlighted going on tour and having their lone single ‘Love Me So’ reach No. 12 in the midweek charts as high points of their career.

Stereo Kicks will play their final live show together on July 25 at Thorpe Park.
