Blur: 'If we didn't play 'Song 2' we'd never get invited to a festival again'

Blur drummer Dave Rowntree believes the band wouldn't have a big festival appeal if they didn't play hit tracks like 'Song 2'.

The group have performed at the likes of Isle of Wight over the past few months, as well as playing a headline set at London's Hyde Park.

However, Rowntree told XFM that he feels there is an unsaid prerequisite at those kind of events to perform the bigger songs.

He said: "It's difficult. It's an hour and a half set, and there's about an hour's worth of music that you absolutely have to play or we'd get bottled off.

"You know, if we didn't play 'Song 2' we'd never get invited to a festival again."

Blur meanwhile released their first album in twelve years - 'The Magic Whip' - in April.
