Duran Duran's Roger Taylor: 'I can totally relate to Zayn Malik wanting to be normal'

Duran Duran's drummer, Roger Taylor (not to be confused with Queen's percussionist of the same name), has revealed that he empathises with former One Direction member Zayn Malik and his decision to quit the boyband at their height of fame

Speaking to Britain's Event magazine recently, the drummer (pictured below with his band) admitted that he understands how difficult fame can be and knows that the pressure can be too much at times, so fully understands Malik's decision to walk:

"I understand what One Direction are going through. And I could totally relate to Zayn when he said he just wanted to be a normal young guy, because that is exactly what I said when I left Duran."

Duran Duran's frontman, Simon Le Bon, recently told Billboard magazine that he has sympathy for One Direction, confessing that there's one member in particular that he has a lot of respect for: "They are a cash cow for so many people... there's a huge pressure to never take a break. But Harry Styles seems to be a decent chap. That makes me think he is handling it all very well."
