Azealia Banks: 'Australian audiences are terrible crowds to play for'

Azealia Banks has launched a scathing attack on Australian gig-goers.

The rapper called them "terrible" and "violent" during a series of tweets on Monday (July 27).

The singer was praised by a user for apprently finally completing a show in the country recently at the Splendour in the Grass festival.

Banks had previously walked off stage at the Listen Out festivals in Sydney and Melbourne after the crowd began throwing items.

Responding to the tweet, the US rapper said: "Because in all actuality. You guys are terrible crowds to play for.

"You're violent and belligerent and I simply will not put my safety at risk. I would've walked off stage had someone thrown something.

"Plus you guys are too far away and honestly, the show guarantees are never really worth the trip. But I love my fans and will do anything to make them happy. Sincerely, AB."
