Police have confirmed that rapper Busta Rhymes was arrested on Wednesday night (August 5) for allegedly hitting an employee at a Chelsea gym with a thrown cardboard drink container. 

The 43-year-old  star was charged with assault after a 17-ounce strawberry protein drink struck an employee in the back of the head at Steel Gym on West 23rd Street at 8.30pm. It is not known if the gym worker suffered any injuries at this point. 

Rhymes, meanwhile, recently spoke out about his interest in secret societies and joked about the Illuminati, telling MTV News: "When you talk about these things and it stirs conversation that's one thing. But within the last four years, it became mainstream American dialog. When you can listen to Angie Martinez interview Jay Z on Hot 97 and ask if it's true that he's a member of the Illuminati...it's so funny to me."

"That agenda is so much bigger than what we could possibly imagine or fathom, just from science alone, the [thought] that they might be able to control the way we think — the last thing they're gonna need is some rappers' dialect on a beat to influence anything."
