Shawn Mendes covers One Direction's 'Drag Me Down'

Canadian heartthrob Shawn Mendes treated his fans to a brand new cover last night and he chose none other than One Direction's smash-hit new single, 'Drag Me Down'.

The song has been One Direction's most successful single release to date and shortly after its release, it broke an impressive Spotify record as it was streamed 4.75 million times globally on Friday, July 31 - beating the milestone that had been previously set by Wiz Khalifa with his track 'See You Again,' which was streamed 4.26 million times on April 17.

Mendes, meanwhile, has just been nominated in the Breakthrough Artist category at this year's Streamy Awards, which will take place on September 17, and he told his followers on Twitter last night that he hopes to still be enjoying success in the music industry in 10 years' time:

"Looking back at videos of me a year ago and i looked like the biggest dork lmao. It's gonna be really cool if I'm still doing music 10 years from now to watch videos from this year. Well, I have to be doing music 10 years from now - got no back up plan LOL. Don't want to do anything other than music anyway!"
